12 April 2008 -- Burnham Track Uplift Complete

25 May 2007 -- Otira Workshop Crane Acquired

It was sad to see the demolition of the old railway workshops at Otira. These facilities were used to maintain the electric engines for the Otira Tunnel and to house the steam powered generators for DC to power those engines.

However, the good news is the trust won the tenders to acquire from the building the 15 ton original gantry crane, all workshop pit, heavy rail and pedestals, locomotive sand drying unit, more rail, workshop lights, ladders etc. This will be enough to set up our Springfield Workshop.

25 May 2007 -- Ds Class Shunters Acquired

The Trust acquired the diesel shunters from Islington freezing works. These were built about 1953 so are almost vintage in their own right. One is in good running condition. The other has the motor out of it and needs gearbox repairs. This may be kept for parts or restored.
